Meh, it's one year and he's got former teammates on the roster to "lean on".
I'm way more concerned about the goaltender situation.
Not sure how that plays out since DeAngelo was not well liked by most of his teammates in NY. In fact he has had locker-room issues everywhere he has played going all the way back to juniors.
I did hear however there were about 4 other teams considering bringing him in. So some value his skills.

Jesper Fast and Brady Skeji are on the roster and reportedly were talked too about signing the guy and gave their "approval".
I really don't think he has an excuse for the lack of playoff success. He has star players around him.
It's not even just that... He just looks incredibly lazy in the playoffs. He pretty much single-handily gave two games away with sloppy turnovers and lack of back-checking. He's an amazing player, but he needs more than just flashy plays/goals/assists to win it all.
