I've only been following hockey for about a month.

One thing that puzzles me though, can someone tell me why the USA and Canada did so badly at the Olympics last time around? Both scrapped through their group stage and then were knocked out in the quarter finals.

Are they full strength teams (e.g. NHL players) or is it like Olympic football where all the teams are watered down?

I wonder since they only play together for a couple weeks that they aren't familiar enough with each other. I mean the talent is there, but its a team sport, not just individual talents.

It was the same for all teams who took their players from the NHL.

Just like the All-star game. watch the movie Miracle. At the end Kurt Russell playing as Herb Brooks said that the Olympics started using NHL players. "Called Dream teams" personally i think it was better when its no the NHL players playing in the Olympics

I liked the college kids also, but the Eastern Block teams were using 'pros', and were quite dominant.
