We live in central Texas and are considering solar screens. We are unsure of which density to select 80% or 90% on certain windows. We are going with the 90% material on most of the east/west/south exposures.
But we have those ubiquitous 2 story arched windows and were wondering if we chose the 90% material, if it would be too dark ('tho we have a lot of windows) and/or we couldn't see the view (which we like). Those windows don't get as much direct sun, a sliver during the summer, more in the winter.
Anybody out there wish they would've got the 90 over the 80 - or vice versa - or any other opinion on the subject?
Our shades are 86%. We CAN see the view through them. The east and west window shades are down only during the am and pm respectively, so it's never too dark because we have natural light from the adjacent/opposite windows.
(You do know solar shades provide zero privacy at night when the interior lights are on?)
These screens are going to be fixed to the exterior.
And yes, there is no privacy at night.
