We live in the tampabay area and wonder how much would it cost to switch out our 3ftx4ft shower area.I'd leave the tile on walls but want new shower floor tile&frameless glass doors?Do you think we could get it done for under 2000$ including labor? The home is under 10 yrs old so I know the plumbing is fine!!Thanks!

Default Probably, but...

Just because some things can be done "on the cheap" does not mean you SHOULD do them that way. When it comes to bathrooms, anytime to you try to remove jut SOME of the tile you run a HUGE risk that you accidentally bust up some the tiles you want to leave intact. Even if the tiles "look OK" odds are nearly 100% that you (or anyone you hire...) will at least knock loose some grout and THAT WILL LEAD TO LEAKS!!!

Believe me, a leaky shower is about the WORST sources of damage to any bathroom and the surrounding structure.

Increase you budget to about $3500 and do it correctly -- remove all the tile, put down new backer board, install the proper isolating / waterproofing system and then put on the new tile.

Definitely worth doing it right!

I'll agree with Chet as I quite often do. You will likely find some clown to do it for 2 grand but after they leave your home for the last time and you take a shower only to find tiles falling off from a poor tile job hitting your toes you will end up spending even more to have it done right.

Just be careful and choose the right contractor. I can only say to use your gut feeling when you interview them.

Good luck
