I wasn't trying to correct you or imply that you didn't know! Please don't take offense. When I started looking for a new faucet, I didn't know the word for that piece. Once I learned it, it was helpful in some of my internet searches. I just thought it might make it easier on the op to have the lingo. (And I must admit that I was rather pleased with myself for knowing it!! )

Oh yeah, no offense taken. In my line of work (fire protection), we've had clients call the head escutcheons trims, rings, covers, and my favorite, "the shiny round thing that goes around it".
