Hi, I found this sub forum and posted my question here:

In our new home’s kitchen, we’ve gotten cherry chocolate (close to dark) cabinets, golden cecilia granite countertop.

Now In the family room, the builder will paint the fireplace mantle as cherry chocolate to match with cabinets and want us to decide the color of the fireplace’s granite surround face. Which color is better: creamy white same as the wall color or golden cecilia same as the contertop?

Or is it better to keep the fireplace mantle as its original wood color? Then what color of granite surround face would be good?

Any feedback will be appreciated.

I don't have an answer but rather and additional question that may help you answer the question. Will the "lighter" granite surround blacken with the use of the fireplace? I am thinking of our bricks.

The white walls shouldn't be part of the equation. They're only white because it's one of the builder's limited color options. Eventually you will paint the walls something you like.

Pick the granite color you love the most. That fireplace will be there much longer than your kitchen. Kitchens get remodeled ever couple decades. Fireplaces don't get a face lift for a half a century to a century.

Look at all of these fireplace pictures in google images. See what you like best. Darker wood? Lighter wood? Painted wood? Darker tile? Lighter tile? Tile that matches the wood?

I like light color and light color combination delights smile and happiness. You can choose a single color for your stripes. Great home’s kitchen decorating creates a beautiful home that is a reflection of your lifestyle. .

Not if you have the ugly tile around it that ours has! I have considered getting new matching granite for our counters and fireplace. They are basically in the same room. If the OP's fireplace and kitchen are in view of each other, and the wood will be stained the same, I'd probably match the granite too.
