Super lame that the pool table can't go in there. A custom made professionally made wood table (ours is in pecan) is just as much a piece of furniture as any other.
We also have a piano in there. Your wife probably wouldn't like that either.
Is that really a rug - it looks like a crime scene.
From a Feng Shui perspective, only keep stuff you love, or that has function or will be actually useful in the very near future. "Everything else MUST GO!"
perhaps the subfloor in the first picture was mistaken for a really dirty rug.
Thanks for the lol!!! Yes, I did mistake the sub-floor for a rug disguised as a crime scene.
Back to your problem: I am a huge proponent of making rooms functional for the way you live - so whatever your hobbies or interests are are what I believe the room should be utilized for, no matter how unconventional.
It could be an office, game room, music room, hobby room . . .you could start a small business and put long tables in it and use it for shipping, etc.
I kind of understand what the OP means. I have a garage full of furniture from my last house, but I haven't been able to pull the trigger on it because when I redecorate, I will use a few pieces, but not sure what yet. I DO need to get rid of a sofa and two chairs, so I'm not sure what's keeping me from that.
I am by no means a horder. I cannot stand excess stuff around me at all. It's more like I haven't found the time to put my mind to it.
