So far only have been able to decide on the sofa for the family room, can't find a large coffee table. Can someone help find me a large coffee table looking for at least a 48X48 size, bigger the better.
For bedroom, we found a platform bed, do we need box springs or the foam mattress if its a platform bed.
Also, need a small 2 piece sectional for the bedroom sitting area. We looked at Ashley, raymour and Flannigan and American signature. Can't find the right piece, can you haggle prices for furniture at Macy's.
Macy's has a lot of sales and I would wait until something I wanted was on sale. You can then ask for the friends and family discount on top of that. If you're working with someone nice, they should give it to you.
I have a platform bed. Whether or not you need a box spring depends on a few factors. I do not (and only have the mattress) because with the mattress alone, my bed is pretty high and if it had a box spring it would be impossible to get into bed.
You can find oversized coffee tables, such as Denley Oversized Black Coffee Table | Overstock.com, but the table you want sounds bigger than my dining set. Good luck. (I know the link isn't as big as you wanted but just giving you an idea.)

Are you looking for any particular style, or finish? Wood or metal? What shape? Approximate price range? Do you want to order something from the internet or purchase it locally where you can see it first?
For the coffee table, other than being very large, what are your needs/wants?
- shape? square, or are you open to round, oval, rectangle?
- height? does it need to be high enough to comfortable use as a work surface, to eat snacks from, or can it be very low to the ground?
- do you need it to have shelves or storage?
Would you be open to using a very large ottoman instead of a traditional table? Might be easier to find one in the larger size you seek.
How about color/wood/metal? General style? If you could show us a few pics of some coffee tables that you like, even if they're smaller than you want, that would help.

Sorry to have not given those details.
Would be buying a transitional sofa, so would like to get something in wood and rectangular shape.
Haven't thought about ottoman, yes its need to be functional, and don't want anything low to ground.
Shelves are alright but not a must.
I saw a few on restoration hardware but very expensive.

Why don't you tell us which one you liked at Restoration Hardware and then perhaps we could find something similar but less expensive?
Consider a cocktail ottoman for your coffee table - we just bought one at Havertys a couple of weeks ago. They had a GREAT selection. Here's the one we got:
It's about 48 x 36 but they had a lot of different sizes - some even bigger.
I like them because they double as extra seating, and no one's afraid to put their feet up on them!
I found this at the Broyhill site. I couldn't find a really big one at Pottery Barn, although they had a great metal and reclaimed wood one. It was large but not what you are seeking.
I am under the impression that really large coffee tables are no longer on trend. Which means you might have trouble finding one. i do seem them frequently in a great consignment store I frequent.
Have you visited furniture stores to see what is being currently offered? I wouldn't recommend buying furniture at Macy's. Head for a nice furniture store or three and look, look, look. Online sites to visit are Pottery Barn, Crate and Barrel, Room and Board (for contemporary), Thomasville. Looking there will give you an idea of what styles are out there. For many of us, the Pottery Barn catalog is a stylebook. Very on trend for transitional styles.
