A pro carpenter contractor here, worked for a dose home builders before. Generally pocket doors should be avoid because they weaken walls. Better biffold always. It is ok at 2X8 walls reinforced with steel.

Properly installed pocket doors do NOT weaken walls.
If they are being added to a door frame that wasn't configured as a pocket door, there should be measures taken to strengthen the framing. Maybe that's what is being referred to here? I know when my father-in-law installed a pocket door, he cut open the drywall to reinforce the framing and install the tracks.

You should stick to failed relationships because that^^^ is total BS-
You might be able to hang a door but a framer or engineer you're not.
I was piece working drywall at 18 years old, and got called into the office. I had done 27 pocket doors with 1/2" drywall and 1 1/4" screws. funny how you remember life's lessons. Didn't get fired, but I knew 1 1/8" screws should be used from then on. This was back when we had yankee screwdrivers, before cordless drills.
Sorry, with all the BS in this thread I thought a real story was in order. The boss that chewed me that day thought it was funny to fart and make others smell it.
Sorry, but it is NOT pathetic to state that properly installed pocket doors do not weaken walls.
