I'm trying to get some patio ideas. I had an old chair and table set, but it has since given in to the elements so I've gotten rid of it. And truth be told, we never sat outside anyway.
So, instead of a chair and table set, what other items can I put out there?
I was thinking maybe plants or a weather resistant lamps.
I attached pics of my patio just to give you an idea of the size I'm working with.
Love the dog! You can do anything with that. It's a great space. You probably will get better ideas from the gardening forum. Do you want to have seating? If you don't eat outside, consider getting some comfy pieces. Definitely do plants and big planters. You can fill that space with plants. What type of sun does it get? If it's a sunny space, you can have a vegetable garden in planters. Or you could do an herb garden. Just flowers will be very pretty. The area on the side that you have mulched would be perfect for a flower garden. You could just plant a few small growing shrubs and even a little mini tree there. There's all sorts of lighting you can install. You can put in lights on posts or even white Christmas lights. It's such a great semi-private space. If you want to do plants, the garden forum can advise on which ones are best for your sun exposure.

If you never sit out there, you don't have a reason to do anything with it unless it's visible from the windows and you want to look at something more than concrete. I would suggest large planters with miniature conifers and seasonal colorful flowering plants, or evergreen shrubs such as camellia, or small deciduous trees such as red-twig dogwood or Coral Bark Japanese Maple. Naturally it depends on your climate and what would do well there. If you have kids, it would be a great spot for them to do sidewalk chalk art. Is that a power outlet to the left of the door? If so, a nice water feature such as a fountain in a large ceramic pot would be nice if placed to be visible from the house.

How you use the space will determine what to get for it.
Container gardening comes to mind.
And I love Hemlock140's idea of a water feature.
I love all of these ideas!
I wasn't going to put any seating out there but I like that sofa in the pic so I may at least get that. If it's a really nice evening I may want to sit outside if I get my patio looking the way I want.
Yes, that is an outlet and I like the idea of a fountain. I also like the potted plants and a lighting.
I get a lot of sun. I actually wanted to start growing my own herbs so I think I'll have a small section for the garden.
Thank you all so much for the great ideas!
Furniture- good cushions with Sunbrella fabrics
Fireplace/Chiminea
Grill/ outdoor station
Planters- multi-tiered
Water fountain
Umbrella/ shade sail- or maybe even a full roof
Jacuzzi
Options are endless! It's just a matter of budget(?)
I wonder if you have a source of shade. I you don't, and the patio faces south or west, you might never sit out there. Consider what sort of shelter you can make for yourself over the patio.
I agree with the others that it is a very nice space.
