I've seen this sort of thing as a border but it works for stairs too. Especially good when little kids are growing up in a home.

Looking at the pixels around the text, it's obviously photoshopped.

Not to say one couldn't really do it on their steps if they wanted; there are stencils available with all kinds of phrases.

I'd say it was a really enlarged pic and that is why the pixelation as if you look closer the whole pic has it. As for the concept here, you can buy removable vinyl decals online to do this. I don't know anyone personally who has done it but I have seen pics before. I would have considered it but we ended up carpeting our stairs, also it is a split staircase and it is perpendicular to the door so you don't get the same effect as shown.

Here is a link with all sorts of ideas, there seems to be a difference of opinion about it you read them from the bottom up, or the top down.

I think it is clever. If it makes the family happy to have this, then why not?

I've seen this before, it is real. There are many "word" steps ideas out there. They are fun and can be about anything that pertains to your liking.

The pixelation around the words are from enlarging the original photo, Photoshop doesn't get that look.

I personally could not stand that but I do not like words on the walls, a bunch of clutter or color on the walls outside of an off white.
The color we have comes from pillows, afghans, quilts, curtains, linens, rugs etc.
These things are easily changed out and cost effective and most of it can be tossed in the washer and dryer.

I'm also not a fan of words on walls. I've seen people apply wallpaper borders to that same space and although that also isn't my style, it looked very nice.

My favorite as well. I love white, all shades of white and pops of color.

Not a fan of the overly- decorated stairs either. I think some things like colored tiles (I.e, Turkish, Mexican) are appropriate depending on the house. Otherwise, it's really busy to me. I like stairs that show off the fine woodwork, newel posts and finials, art in the foyer, etc.

I do, however, like the ideas for the outside stairs, especially the piano keys. They remind me of public art, something everyone can share in.
