Take a look at the grey stain that Advantage by Bridgewood is now offering. The color is called stone. It is a great color...very sharp looking. I just found out that the color is so new they don't have it on there web-site yet. I will try to find a picture.

The bottom one looks VERY green to me. I happen to love green, but I would not personally choose to use it for a cabinet color. But I also admit that my personal bias is against mix and match cabinet colors (so different uppers and lowers or different wall cabinets and island cabinets) so that may be a factor as well.

And not that this should stop you, since this is about picking what YOU love, but fwiw, in my new build, when you choose counters that are green, you have to pay for those up front. They never really explained exactly why, and I ended up not picking the green I thought I might use so I didn't press for an answer, but obviously there is some concern with the color green.

well the green would just be for the island---the rest of the cabinets would be the gray and both would have the same white countertop something similar to the below--I don't have to do the green though--I just thought it might set off the island.

How long do you guys anticipate the grey trend to last? I installed my kitchen cabinets with the intention of painting them later. They're white and I was planning to paint them white. I've had time to live with them for a few months while my husband was recovering from a health problem, and I'm thinking they may eventually be grey or beige. This is causing me a terrible time picking my countertop.

I anticipate liking the gray a long time (we built our exisiting house 5 years ago and I wanted gray then but decided not to at that point) so I've wanted them/liked the idea for 5 years so I would anticipate liking it a long time.
The actual trend itself--that is hard to say? I would say things change every 10 years or so?

I think gray cabinetry is quite popular now so yeah, it may be trendy. But I also think it's neutral enough that I personally would not think I'd get tired of it very quickly.

There's some fatigue factor possible with anything you pick, but the good thing about neutrals is that you can buy new accents and change up the look. And there really isn't much that would not look great with gray. That's another big reason why I'd personally hesitate to bring in the green for the island cabinets. I'd stick with gray all around and start off with great fun green accessories. And then in a few years, change them out for red or black or white or whatever new color appeals to you then to give the kitchen a new look.
