I had a bad experience on AliBaba and won't use them again. I purchased about $200 worth of products for a little business we had going on eBay. The products arrived quite different from the online catalog and the styles and colors were not represented honestly or accurately. When I tried to get my money back and return the items, the merchant was extremely manipulative. She kept avoiding a resolution, playing dumb and trying to cut contact, hoping I'd just resign and walk away.
I filed a complaint with PayPal, and they got my money back for me. If they deem you're in the right, they really do stand behind you. Thank goodness.
Interesting. So I looked it up on the ever popular Wikipedia:
Alibaba.com, a business-to-business portal to connect Chinese manufacturers with overseas buyers.
Alibaba's consumer-to-consumer portal Taobao, similar to eBay...
"Alibaba — open sesame. Alibaba is a kind, smart business person, and he helped the village. So … easy to spell, and globally known. Alibaba opens sesame for small- to medium-sized companies." (CEO Ma stated)
That's so funny, I never knew or recognized the name was from "Alibaba and the forty thieves". I always thought it a Chinese name and didn't know how to pronounce it.
I've bought from Ali Baba and Ali Express everything from computer parts to furniture, and I've never had a problem. They offer very good buyer protection and I've never been ripped off.
Its a legit company but be carefull, chinese company are not as well regulated as our companys here in the US. The worst that can happen is to get screwed by someone a million miles away. Just make sure you do your research before you buy anything.
