Keep in mind - the grout color will almost always dry lighter than the sample. I have no idea why the manufacturers put out the somewhat misleading color samples. Which brand of grout is it?
Also realize that everyone's monitor has different color settings, so what WE see is not necessarily what your picture shows.
The grout brand is Mapei, from Home Depot.
The walls will be brown, much like the darker grout color shown in the picture (Chamois).
I know we probably won't see the exact same colors due to the momitor settings, but it's just to get an idea of what others think about it
Thanks!
Sometimes I like to pick a contrasting grout color, but in this case I think it would look best with a closer color.
Based on the colors I see on my monitor and assuming the color names are right below the color, I'd probably go with Pale Umber (the one right under your thumb). Although "Umber" usually implies a strong "burnt yellow" and I don't see that in the color. Otherwise the Najavo Brown.
I like the color at the very bottom of the page (has no name) but it looks like it might have a stronger orange tint in person?
ETA: I have used Mapei many times and it will definitely dry somewhat lighter than the color sample.
When I'm choosing grout color, I just start narrowing it down. From your samples, I think you could eliminate the top three, six, and seven. Put those together and eliminate again.
Then I'd put the grout colors, hopefully down to 3 or 4 choices, down on the floor with the tile sample in the room where it will be, step back, and check it out from a distance. When I do this several times, my eye is usually drawn to the same one, which then becomes the winner.
*those color renderings are pretty spot-on when the grout is mixed properly; contrary to that other post.
Since my grout matches the caulk (as close as it can considering the different materials), I'd say I've done my grout mixing just fine. And I stick by the assertion that many grouts dry a lighter color than the color strips.
I like matching tile color and grout so second from the bottom. If the room is small it helps it look a bit bigger without contrasting grout lines.
