OP, where are you?
I cannot think of another place inside your house for a large display that would look as nice as in a fireplace. If you have a safe area outside like a patio maybe that could work. Personally I'd say bye-bye to the idea.

Great post, TrapperL. These are some great points. I learned this about twenty years ago when I saw the soot on my walls.
I stopped using paraffin candles and switched to soy and beeswax.
