I usually make my own cold concentrate coffee and pour it into a cup of boiled water.

So did he get a new one?
Not yet. He’s been drinking instant, which he seems to like! I don’t want to have to clean a new machine, since I don’t use it. I doubt he would ever clean a new one, so I think he doesn’t want that chore either.

Ew.

Hubby drinks coffee and he cleans his frequently.

That nastiness - just think about the coffee makers provided in every hotel room. Gross, cause you know those are NEVER cleaned.

Ours really stank of burnt coffee grounds. It was awful.

Pour clear vinegar into the holding bin.
Don't insert a K-cup, but put a cup under the spout as usual.
Push button to start the machine making coffee. Once the vinegar starts flowing into the cup, shut the Keurig off.
Leave the vinegar inside the working parts for at least 20-30 minutes. The vinegar cleans all the internal parts. It should be done every couple of months.
Flush the system by running several cups of clean water into the cup.

Here's another tip that actually works. When the Keurig starts running slow after a couple of years, don't throw it out and buy another.
Remove the water holding tank.
Unplug the Keurig.
Hold the Keurig upside-down over the sink.
Burp your Keurig!
Give it several hard slaps in the bottom plate.
Plug it back in and test it. The water will run as freely as it did when the Keurig was new.

Why?

Over time, air bubbles form inside the Keurig. By "burping your Keurig", you're releasing all the air bubbles that are impeding the water flow.

I read this on the internet. I tried it. I cannot believe it actually worked for me. I was prepared to go buy a new Keurig today, but now the old one is working fine after it was "burped".
