Never heard of either of these types of mattress toppers. The prices are similar. Advantages or disadvantages or just a marketing gimmick?

I thought a mattress topper was just some cotton batting, quilted, with hang-down elasticized sides similar to a fitted sheet? Why not just buy one of those?

Honestly, I think 99% of this current mattress voodoo is total BS. Replace a mattress every 5 years? What? Special foams and gels (sounds like something sexually oriented)? Adjustable numbers? Sheesh. Talk about marketeering creating the feeling of a need where none actually exists! 35 years ago, when I went to Sears and Roebuck and bought the hardest mattress I could afford (in those days, the harder the more expensive), just like everyone else, that served the needs of the sleeping populace just fine. Everything beyond that, as far as I can tell, is newly created hype.

(Yes, there are a few individuals with unusual medical conditions that need special accommodations. What's that, maybe 5% of people?)

You know, outdoor plumbing served the needs of people just fine for centuries. Everything beyond that is newly created hype.

Sounds just as silly and closed minded. doesn't it?

Why would you need "plumbing" outdoors? Talk about sounding "silly"!!!

Well, let's run that pop fly out.

Cholera vs. no cholera

Or

My mattress is for sleeping on vs. I want my mattress to be fully adjustable, make me taller, richer, smarter and get the crab grass out of my lawn.

Which of these questions is "silly" and which isn't?

Here's a news flash - questioning people who are trying to sell you something, and choosing to make your own decisions rather than blindly following this year's ad campaign, is neither "silly" nor "closed-minded".

Just go to San Francisco and Los Angeles. The vagrants don't need plumbing outdoors -- or anywhere.

I'm a fan of simple, firm, innerspring mattresses. Restwell makes some really good ones for very reasonable prices.
