This might be a dumb question, but what's wrong with the white? Other than the feeling that it might be boring? The window frames are white. So you would change the storm door to match the front door and leave the white window frames? How about a black storm door and leave the white entry door?
I like the looks of that door. It almost looks like a picture frame. It's listed as a "security door" and I can't help but wonder just how much security a door with that much glass could provide. It looks nice though.
I don’t want to be negative, but I have to agree that the storm door will hide the door anyway, so it hardly matters. I guess I’d vote for a white door.
I'm facing this decision and have been dithering over it. The whole house is scheduled for paint this summer.
Single story, run-of-the-mill ranch, T1-11 siding will be repainted its original medium slate blue with white window trim (no shutters or other detail). White raingutters, dark grey/brown composite shingle roof. Front stoop and back deck are stained that classic redwood color. Gravel driveway in front.
The present door is a dull orangey yellow but peeling, weathered, and needs to be taken down to the metal. It gets strong sun all summer, wind-driven rain, snow, and ice all winter. I'd prefer a bright contrast. The surrounding landscape is all green: minimally maintained grass lawn bordered by a thick mass of elderberries, willow, native wildflowers (including an amazing multi-acre swath of fireweed ), black alder and groves of Sitka spruce. Can't see any close up neighbor's houses.
I'd go with a van Gogh sunflower yellow. It will weather better than colors with red in them. Otherwise, a bright spring/apple green.

I agree, but I think I'm still not clear on the distinction of security door and front door. is the security door the one on the very outside or the inside (front) door? in our house, the 'storm' door (the main door) is inside and we have the glass/screen door on the outside. Storm door is open most of the summer and we use the glass door with the pull down screen for light and air flow.
The Covenants of our patio type homes, HOA dictates black front doors.
