I haven't started the ceiling yet. I will put insulation first and then use dry wall for the ceiling. Plaster, sanding, primer and finally white paint. It is a lot more work than I thought it would be.

I intend to build a music room, a bedroom, a wet bar, a bathroom and an open space for things like a home theater and a gaming area. Nearly all of it is going to be dry wall. I will put tiles in the bathroom and maybe faux brick in certain areas.

I plan on doing this gradually, because I will use the future equity in my home. But for right now, it is just one room.

GU-10 LED bulbs in a fixture.
That way you separate the replacement cycle for bulb (infrequently) and fixture (hopefully never).
Examples of bulbs - https://www.amazon.com/gu10-led-bulb...gu10+led+bulbs
Example of fixture - https://www.totalrecessedlighting.co...-trim-kit.html

This is what I did in my sisters basement - except we went round trim, 4 inch. Came out quite nice and we were able to change the color temp for different areas based on function (so TV area, vs bar area, vs craft area).

LED fixtures give great, bright light in rooms where you want that. I have them in my laundry room and kitchen. There are rooms where I would want more subtle lighting than that, so pay attention to the types of light that different bulbs give off, and put dimmers in.
