We are in the process of buying a house in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn and will probably require that the rooms be repainted. We are talking on the inside only.

Does anyone have recommendation for a good painter/contractor? We need about 2500 sq. feet (those are wall square feet) painted. I don't want to hire just some lads off the street to do this, but at the same time, we don't want to be ripped off. From what I understand, we will need to do primter + 2 coats of pain. Benjamin Moore is the paint that we would like to use.

All help is appreciated!

See if there is a CertaPro Painter in your area. A friend of mine owns a franchise in Phoenix and was really impressed with the training and support of the company. Also, in my area (Delaware), I have had interior decorators recommend them.

The yellow pages is a great place to start. In our area there are tons of painting contractors. It's like any other type of service - check for references and get quotes.
In the quote - be sure to include
start and finish dates, what brand and color number of paint(s) you want used, and detail what paint goes where (i.e. White semi-gloss #xxx for trim and doors, lt taupe #xxx for walls)
include how the paint will be applied (spray, brushed & rolled)
Be sure to have a pre-walk through - simply walk through the rooms with the painting contractor make notes on tape if you are using different paint colors - discuss prep, etc.
Take before and after pictures.
Before pictures can be fun to look back at and if anything goes wrong, they can be helpful!
Best wishes.
