Any ideas on what to use on the glass on our front entrance door for privacy. There are spots in the design that anyone can see clearly through if they tried. The majority of the glass has a "shattered" kind of look to it.
I don't know that i would do anything to the glass. Do you have an alarm system, or a panic button installed, very easy, my husband put our own alarms system in our home, and the biggest panic button sound ever, just like a train horn, no kidding, it would work. We have it to where if the panic button is sounding, lights also come on. I would not do anything permenant to destroy the glass in any way. There are cut outs that could work. But they come off easily.
The big box stores sell a sticky sheet material that will give it a frosted look. Fairly easy to diy it. I think there are other styles as well, just check in the window section.
But would they? Even if you live in a dense area where the door is near the street and passed by foot traffic, if the glass in the door is mostly textured to obscure the view, then it would have to be almost by chance that anyone could catch that small bit of clear glass, and even less likely that anything they could see be of any consequence.
Hobby stores sell paints that make clear window glass look like stained glass. You just paint it on and it is removable, it just peels off if you don't want it or like it anymore. It also comes in a clear white, which makes the pane look frosted or textured without adding color.
