I'm finally in a position to begin work on the inside of my new home. A friend will be ripping down the UGLY wood paneling and puting up sheet rock, removing the wood doors and puting up off white six panel doors. I'm excited and can't wait.

Here are the before pictures. I will post the after sheet rock pictures on Monday. Did I say I was excited?

Congratulations! You should be excited! I have no idea why people ever put paneling into houses. Way too dark. Your plan sound like a guaranteed improvement!

Oh didn't your parents or grand parents have paneling when you were a kid? It was the IN thing back in the 70s. Paneling was all the rage. Those days we did not have Home Depots and Lowes. We had big home improvement lumber yards and there were entire isles dedicated to paneling of all different colors and styles. I remember it so well. I can remember being hired to install paneling.

Congrats, blackandproud! Looking forward to seeing the after pics. We rented a 1970's era house when I was a kid. My room had super dark wood paneling. It was like living in a cave. Just hideous. That's one design trend I hope never makes a comeback!

I installed paneling for a customer about 3 months ago. I must say, for paneling it didn't look too bad. However, it was still paneling and I hated every minute of it...

My parents had quality taste and didn't follow fads.

Wow. That is incredibly dark and bleak in there huh?! I can't believe you would allow a friend the satisfaction of removing that panelling without you!!! I would think that destroying that with your own hands would be soooo satisfying!
I am so excited for you.

Wait, where do you live? Can I come over and rip some out?!
