I have a silver 1997 Honda del Sol is very good condition both engine and body wise with about 181k miles. My husband and I are thinking about starting a family in the next year and the two seater del sol won't fit that lifestyle as an every day car.
Our home has a 1 car garage that we use for storage. The del Sol will take up less than half of the garage so we'll still have plenty of room for now. The del Sol has great personal value to me so I would love to keep it but I also wonder if it will be worth any money down the road since it seems to be a rare car.
I guess I'm afraid that I'll hang onto the car for memories as it rusts in my garage and takes up space I'll need when I have children (my home does not have a basement).
When I Kelly Blue Book the value of the car it's not worth it to sell it or trade it in. My mother had a '67 Triumph Spitfire when she was my age and she is still upset that she sold it when she had children.

I'm very torn. Any suggestions?
Can you post a pic of it here ? I would love to see it
Ahhh the delslow. Its a cute little car, coveted by the Honda racer crowd (i know a few people who have owned one) but I think calling it rare would be a stretch as I still see them fairly often around here.
If it has some sentimental meaning then you won't want to get rid of it regardless of what anyone says. If you just want something cute and nimble to drive I'd just get a newer miata.
I don't think it'll ever be a collector car, so I wouldn't hold on to it in hopes of making money down the road.
This is a tough call, really. I would say that if you honestly believe you would find time enough to drive it (or have a need for it), keep it. I'm assuming it's long since been paid off, so it's not costing you anything. But, if it will only end up collecting dust or acting as a shelf for stuff to pile onto in the garage, than maybe it is time to let it go.
Do either of you have an appreciable commute where maybe this car would act as a good gas saver?
Keep it. It's a fun little car, and after you have the baby when you want to get out for a spin and feel like a total Virginia Pippolini you can put the top down and drive around.

They're not rare, but somewhat less common. There are better cars in that segment like Miata, S2000, MR2, but Del Sol probably ranks towards the top as far as MPG. You can put a child seat in the front. What would be your plan if you kept it? Store it for 10-20 years? Really for what you could get now plus interest in that time, you could probably find another one in the same or better shape.
Whether it's a Honda or a Hyundai, with such a low market value, I'd just keep it. It's not worth selling. Unless it's demanding major upkeep or the insurance costs to much.
