The old style CRV is perfect for my needs. I love the way it looks and the large amount of interior space. I can easily stand my bike up in the back, and my dog's crate fits perfectly. It gets very good MPG as well.

I don't care for the crossover style. I haven't seen the 2013 model but I've driven the 2012, and it just isn't as appealing to me as the older style.

I'm wanting to replace my '05 CRV. Is there another small SUV that would be comparable to the pre-crossover CRV?

Everything has gotten bigger, so I suspect that both the new CRV and the RAV-4 are bigger than you want.

Maybe one of the small SUVs like the Tucson?

(By the way it was ALWAYS a crossover, as are most of the "SUVs" you find these days.)

Small SUV with squarish back? Not too many ... try looking at the Ford Escape. The Toyota RAV4 isn't too rounded and might fit your needs.

Oh sorry if didn't use the term correctly...what I mean is a small SUV with a tall square back rather than a non-rounded square back.

anyone else annoyed how the Honda emblem in the rear of the CRV isn't centered, due to the spare tire?

Maybe a Jeep Liberty, although in practice it is probably a far cry from a CR-V other than being more squared off.

Or maybe a Subaru Forester? They are not as rounded around in the back either.

im not thrilled with the look of the rear of the new cr-4. but i believe that shape gives it some more cargo space and it seems like a quality car, so im keeping it on my list of potentials. i have other priorities that come before looks.

Subaru Forester has a pretty square design, and is about the same size and capacity as the 2005 CRV.

I thought about a Jeep Liberty too and test drove one. I like the way it looks but didn't care for the ride or the interior.

I haven't tried a Subaru, I might take a look at the Forester.

Everytime I see the latest CRV I cringe. It just looks awful. What was honda thinking when they designed that thing?

Might want to take a look at at the Mazda cx-5.
