anyone know a good company that will replace a staicase railing and the cost.
I would like to use iron instead of the ugly wood spindles(i guess thats what they are called)-a new hand rail.
No idea how much this would cost

If you want to replace the balusters only, I recommend to do it yourslef. It should be easy, and you will save a lot of money.

My builder is asking for $7600 to replace the wooden balusters with wrought iron balusters. From the internet, I can buy the materials for under $500, and it will take few tools and a weekend to do it.

The total cost will depends on how long your staircase is, and how many baluster you need. I searched the web and here what I came up with:

StairSupplies™ - Iron Balusters and Wrought Iron Stair Parts Lowest Price

King Architectural Metals wrought iron metal balusters finials casting steel ornamental forged gate fence stairs Access control

Me? I just like the single spindle ball thingy alternately with a straight twist. So 2 plain twisted straight ones and then one with the decorative ball thingy, then 2 plain, etc. Simple, as I don't things that are too ornate. Now if I could just find someone to install the darn things, lol. Hubby, bless his little heart is just not handy! lol

Great post! I would love to do this as well...I don't dislike the white balusters, but I do like the wrought iron better!

One thing...how on earth would you put them in? You would have to take off the banister/railing...does it just pull off?
