If its a HE is has to have the HE because it cleans in a very different way. Read the manual when all else fails.

I use All He, but He detergent is everywhere. Just do it.

Leave your washer door open between uses, because the machine will end up smelling evil if you don't. If it does begin to smell, run a load with chlorine bleach.

I have had a top loader He Maytag for several years, and I haven't had any problems.

Tide detergent says 6x the power? Is it 6x or 2x the power? Gain he detergent what is its strength 2x? I have a new Maytag HE washer front load and I am suppose to set the detergent dispenser to the strength of the HE detergent I am using. Confusing??

I've had a Maytag front loader for sixteen years. HE detergent is not hard to find, especially not today.

Cjb857, call Maytag and ask them.

As long as the detergent is for HE (high efficiency) that's the main thing. The 6x power etc. is just a marketing ploy. You do not have to set the detergent dispenser based on the strength of the detergent.

We have a top loading Maytag Bravo and the appliance store told us not to use Tide (even the HE) as it ruins the gaskets. Anyone familiar with this? We've been buying an expensive brand through them but it lasts most of the year.

It's actually harder to find non-HE detergent nowadays than HE.
