What can this be?
About a year ago we installed a Ceiling Fan with a Light. When we turn it on, it takes from 30 - 45 seconds for the light to come on.

It is a halogen bulb, and the fan operated via a remote. But we are turning the light on via a wall switch.

Is it the fixture? Wiring? Switch? Bulb?

Anyone see something like this?

Some of the X-10 light modules take that long to bring a light up to full brightness. The fixture likely also allows you to power on the light using the remote, so the circuit interjects itself.

Leave the wall switch in the "on" position and use the remote to turn the light off and on. It will still have a delay but will be faster.

Thanks for the replies - but funny thing happened today.
The bulb burnt out altogether.

Then when I went to remove it, one of the ends stayed in the socket. I think I managed to get it all out. Now I ned to find a 4 5/8" bulb, and the local hardware store doesn't have it.

Another thing - if we leave the wall switch on & control the light with the remote, on occasion the light will turn itself on - at like 3 AM! Also, sometimes the light will turn itself off at 11 - 12 PM. Evidently, there is someone very close with the same remote setting. Therefor, we use the wall switch.

LOL! Yeppers. Classic stuff. We had an add-on remote in Florida that did the same type of stuff, and our neighbor did too. Figured out at one point how to make his lighting stuff go nuts, but was too nice a guy to take advantage and play pranks.

Yep - we've played that game with the people two floors below us. :-)

Changed the bulb - now only takes 1 second to come on.
