Sweetie, get a bottle of rubbing alcohol in the dollar store and when you finish the chrome fixtures, drink the Vodka!

My mom used to use a vinegar solution and old newspapers to clean windows and mirrors. They were always clean and streak-free.

Isn't Bar Keeper's friend made from Rhubarb extract?

LOL, why didn't I think of that?!? Not much of a vodka fan, though.

Mom used to put Mercury on your booboos too, now people are freaking out about the microscopic amount in CFLs.

I remember Guickal (sp?) ointment which was the most foul and evil smelling concoction ever, that Grandma would rub on the throat and wrap a hanky around your neck if you complained of a sore throat. I learned quickly to not complain. Mama never used it on us - I think she had experienced that too!!!
Also remember Little Boy Blue Bluing that Mama would add to white clothes to make them whiter and brighter. One of my aunts used it on her hair (after it had gone snow white) to keep it from looking "yellow". Thank goodness for memory lane......

The heck with the mercury in mercurochrome; applying that stuff to an open wound hurt worse than the injury itself. The first time I used Neosporin it was like a whole new world opened up, LOL.
