Maybe someone can answer this question.

When you tile a backspalsh, what do you do about the outlet. In other words, how do you compensate for the difference between the position of the faceplate after the tile is installed and where the plugs actually are?

Thanks

You need to readjust the outlet to put the plug closer to the tile face and allow the faceplate to attach.

You may need longer screws, but the unit is designed so that it can be adjusted. (or at least it should be)

Home improvement stores sell spacers you put behind the screws. This brings the the plug closer to the surface.

Ha, we just dealt with this about a month ago. We tiled our back splash with tumbled marble and I too just could not grasp the concept of what about the outlets?!?!

Well, I can't remember if the contractor brought longer screws with him or the ones we had just happened to work. But yes it's all about the screws.

Heather....I like the backslash.

We too are putting in a tile backsplash and my husband installed a certain outlet that will move out or in depending on the thickness of the tile. I'm sure you could go to any hardware store and ask about the outlets! Good Luck.
