Our new house had an older style crawl space access that was crowded by new city sewer pipe. I just had that sealed up and new crawl space access put in by a company that specializes in crawl spaces and basements. Now we can actually get under the house and if a plumber needed to get under there they can now. Does this improve the value of the house?

Default Maybe, but not in the way I suspect you'd hope for...

"Value" in the sense that now you can feel better about stuff down there? Certainly.

"Value" in the sense that your local assessor may not increase you assessment? Probably.

"Value" in the sense that if you want to get a bigger HELOC or sell the place for more money? Unlikely.

This is maintenance / infrastructure and while it often eliminates issues that would scare off buyers or helps you sell faster there are not many folks that would pay more for your house with a nice finished out crawl space than would be cross shopping with an identical house that has an older yuckier crawl...

IMHO, the only thing that adds value to a house is adding square footage. Remodeling kitchens and bathroom mainly enhance your house, possibly making it more salable. The main reason is that your house has to have a bathroom and kitchen in the first place. Now if you add a bathroom or expand the size of your kitchen, within reason, that can add some value.
