Am curious to know if there is anyone in the Tennessee/Kentucky area that have had hardwood floors installed in the past few years that have had any problems with Lyctus Powder Post Beetles?
Not exactly in your area, but I had powder post beetles in the house I bought here in Massachusetts. They love wet wood. If there's moisture somewhere in the wood of your house, you might get them. (My house was more of a shack and was more wet than dry. I used to say it couldn't burn down, it would only smolder).
You can get professional treatment/extermination for the beetles, but it would also be good to locate the damp area and replace it.
For the record, there was nothing worth saving in my little houes. After eight years of continual systems failures, I tore it down and built my less-little dream house. No water, no beetles, no leaks, no bad dreams of water pouring in the mushy roof.
My house is one year old. Built after fire destroyed my home.
