one more question, little bit stupid though, how do I know if I have 1 inch or 3/4th inch Febco pressure vacum breaker ? thanks

They'll do whatever you want done.
restore the system as is?
Repair & Replacement Irrigation Parts for lawn sprinkler and irrigation systems.

improve the system with newer controls?

thanks a lot... for time being I shut down the system by cl;osing the valve till I see how to fix this.. looks like it can be DIY by looking at following video:

Great for an emergency- But I wouldn't leave it for more than 24hrs. Needless to say, I refrain from using period.
And yes, I know some swear by them- them being someone who is NOT a plumber.

No argument here.

It was meant to be illustrative that the sprinkler feed could be capped off.
The earlier post mentioned a cap (which I'd prefer to see used).

It looks though like they want a high water bill and grass in the desert afterall.
