I have an older Moen faucet and it seems like just a year after I change the cartridge, the faucet is back to being excessively difficult to push or pull. Is there a push/pull faucet out there that doesn't suffer this problem?
I would not be surprised if something other than the cartridge is worn / damaged, the "faucet body" can get deposit of minerals that lead to poor operation...
There are other firms that use similar mechanism -- Gerber, PricePfister, and Delta each offered variants. The manufacturing tolerances of all are / were pretty similar -- eventually they get worn out and when a new cartridge is no longer able to restore operation to satisfactory level the smart thing to do is go shopping for replacement.
