I need to figure out a way to store a boat at the ceiling of the garage. The boat is about 26 feet long and about 18" wide at the center, most of it is much more narrow. It weighs about 40 pounds. I will try to add some pictures later.
I have some very strong Velcro wraps that I can use to connect it. I can get a hoist thingy with 39 feet of cable at Harbor freight. The problem is how do I lift it evenly? The strap/hooks will be about 10 feet apart. They could possible be a little closer.
I found a lift I can order form Home Depot website that has a metal bar that holds 2 hooks about 3 feet apart. I am not sure 3 feet apart is a wide enough spread for a 26' boat. It needs to lift evenly. That hoist thingy is $169. Harbor freight has an electric hoist with 39 feet of cable that could lift it and is cheaper($99), but it just has a single hook. I imagine there is some way to set up some pulleys so hooks would lower and raise evenly, but I do not have any idea how to configure them (wish I had taken physics). IF anyone can help with suggestions for a product, or a pulley configuration I would appreciate it.
Not ours, but it looks like this:
