I have the oddest thing, in my mind. An increasingly strong mint fragrance in one lower cabinet only. I can't locate a cause. I only keep pots and pans and mixer under there...all clean. I'm not growing mint yet inside or out. Any ideas?

Have you lived there a long time?

Maybe the previous owners stored mint there?

Spilled mint flavoring?

Or Peppermint Schnapps?

Or peppermint oil?

Peppermint oil is supposed to keep mice away ... so OP, if you just moved in recently, maybe the previous owner had a mouse problem that he/she was trying to fix?

No, it's been about 9 months. We didn't smell it at first. Then about a month ago I noticed it faintly. Moreso over the last few weeks. Very mysterious.

I'll do a good cleaning and see how it goes. I might find something then too. Thanks.

Okay. Seems like something minty was indeed spilled/dried whatever in there. Still nothing that we can see but the cabinet is against an outside wall so the increasing smell may be from the outer wall heating up with summer coming. Thanks all.
