We bought a house and in one of the bedrooms there is a ceiling fan where the lights are very dim. The light bulbs are completely incased and the amount of light it gives off is almost like a night light.
I keep wondering if there may be some function the fan we are mssing because I can't see the point of having a celing fan that only gives off very dim light.
Does anyone have experience with these types of ceiling fans?
Could be a night light function.
Could be that the previous owner did not like glaring ceiling light in the bedroom.
Could be that the fixture isn't rated for a higher wattage bulb.
Did you check the wattage of the bulb and the max allowed by the fixture?
There may be another switch or lever for light control. Sometimes these have little chains or strings attached but in your case that may be missing. So perhaps check closely the fan, sometimes they are hard to see. Another option is a dimmer mounted on the wall.

The dome is a pressure dome. You should be able to push up (using two hands on opposite sides) and spin it counter-clockwise.
