This is not in our home but in a building we bought. It used to be a bank many years ago. We have marble on a couple walls that used to be behind old radiators we took out. There are some stains on the marble that I haven't been able to get out so far. I did try using dish detergent and after that didn't work went to Menards and bought some spray marble cleaner. The spray cleaner shined it up quite alot but didn't take the stains out.
Any ideas for me anybody? I want to keep the marble.
Thanks.
Jean

I have always brought in professionals for marble cleaning and refinishing. I have never found a do it yourself solution that worked.

Stains might never come out. Marble is a soft and very porous stone so whatever stained it might be in too deep to polish out.

Ditto! I've never had any luck with DIY either. Professional cleaner/polishers can have you looking brand new. But it ain't cheap.

This is discouraging reading what I have read thus far. Our light cream marble is only 4 years old and it is starting to have apricot hues in the areas that are frequent used around the sink/counter in our master bathroom.

I know that with toe nails that turn yellow (from red nail polish), I have heard that rubbing a sliced lemon will help take the discoloration away. Has anyone tried this on their marble? I wondered if the natural acid from the lemon may help.

Thanks for any input!

Amazonchix, the lemon juice will etch the marble. Probably not a good idea.

I agree completely and will add that once the marble is etched, it will only get dirty and stained easier.
