I don't know if this story is true or not, however, I remember reading somewhere a story about Owens Corning ended up making its fiberglass insulation its signature pink color. From what I remember reading, when first introducing their trademark product, Owens Corning actually originally intended their insulation to be red in color. However, when their new product was first made, the red dye that was used was not concentrated enough to dye the insulation red, and ended up being pink instead. So Owens Corning decided to popularize its pink color and adopt the Pink Panther as its mascot due to the popularity of the movies in the 70s.
I don't know if this story is true or not, since I can't seem to find it on the web. However, I do remember reading it somewhere (perhaps an old revision of the article on Wikipedia?).
FYI, most other brands of fiberglass insulation are yellow, except Johns Manville which is white. We have blown pink fiberglass insulation in our attic.
Owens Corning started dying the fiberglas in 1956, long before the Pink Panther movies. It's certainly a red dye, but that doesn't mean red was intended. Their website says it was from a "customer request". There's a story here about it originating with another company in NZ (which you can believe or not) Fletcher 1909-2009 | Our Stories
Technically you can't dye "glass"- different colors of "glass" are made by temperature and minerals.
OC dyed the "binder" used in F/glass batt manufacturing.
The "Pink Panther" deal didn't come about until the '80's. There was a US District Court approval for Trademark and other entitlements (i.e., "Fiberglas").
How do you tell whether or not the old insulation you find while remodeling has asbestos in it?? It is owens corning and has the word NEW on it in red... My parents bought our home 45 years ago and we are remodeling as we now own the place

A 45yo house WILL NOT have any insulating materials that contain asbestos.
Fiberglass batts have never contained asbestos. And the only material I know of that has contained ANY asbestos in a home was vermiculite. And it was only used in attics, because it was a granular like substance.
