You could secure a splint to the joist if it makes you feel more comfortable. Simply add another piece of wood several feet long (or a metal strap) nailed or screwed to the joist to hold it together and improve any strength you might think you lost. However it doesn’t look like it’s anything to worry about unless it gets worse of the months or years.
No it's just blown out from the three nails. Its split with the grain. If the crack was crosswise I would say yes sister up another joist. As it is like MrWillys says go have a drink. Enjoy your weekend
Start a new hobby. You obviously have way too much time on your hands if you have taken up looking at the floor joists on your basement ceiling. I'm kidding of course.
Like others have said, its not even close to being a big deal. If you had another 2by to sister, and you wanted to take the time to do it, then go for it. But I wouldn't go out and buy one, or bother doing anything about it myself.
Now that we have solved your structural concerns, you can start looking at all the plumbing fittings visible in the basement. Which, really is a pretty good idea to do once in a while.
This is a close up. The split at the bottom looks deep. This is why I was confused if the damage was bad or not.
