I have a very short garage depth wise and short from side to side - its a 2 car garage. In front of our cars we have about 2 to 3 feet of space. We need that space to walk around the vehicle to get into them. However, My ceilings are very high in the garage. I want something on the wall in front of my cars that is high enough so I can walk underneath them but not too high where it would be problematic to get stuff down. I know the hyloft things but those would be too high. Any other suggestions?

I used simple wire shelving from HD mounted on both sides high enough to be out of the way. Does not collect dirt and is relatively cheap and easy.

I use the same type shelving and it works just fine. I keep most stuff in totes that sit on the shelves.

To the OP. Might you be able to pull your cars forward and walk around the back of them? If so you could build shelves down as low as say 3 feet that would actually hang over the hood of the cars when the cars are pulled all the way forward. My neighbor did this and it worked out quite well.

When I visited my buddy's new home a few years back I noticed he used all the space above his garage doors to put shelving as he had high ceilings also. This would be standing inside the garage and looking out towards the driveway.............the area directly above the doors. It was pretty neat.......I did the same and have stored a lot of things such as power tool boxes and decorations that only get used occasionally. Mine looks a lot nicer but you get the idea.

I know you mentioned the front, but there are a lot of things you hardly use that you could put up high and out of the way. We have no basements here and we are one of the few that puts our cars in the garage.

Good luck!
