Just read about popcorn ceilings, I have on the ceiling like tiny bumps, but they look painted over and smooth, not sharp like the pics I've seen, is this a popcorn ceiling? The bumps are like 1-2 mm and VERY smooth as it looks, is this dangerous to my pets?
What's the condition of them? If they're in perfect condition, they aren't dangerous. They are only dangerous after they've been damaged or are deteriorating. Look for any previous repairs. If there weren't any and they are in good condition, you don't have anything to worry about. Asbestos is only dangerous when it's disturbed so don't drill any holes in your ceilings.
Most popcorn ceilings put up after 1978 were made with styrofoam not asbestos, and those tended to be smoother in texture but you should get it tested before you attempt to remove it.
Asbestos is only hazardous when friable. This means when its particulate matter is airborne. As somebody already stated it was removed from all drywall products by 1978.
Popcorn ceilings don't cause a problem until you paint them. Then lots of little pieces fall off the ceiling.
