My husband and I are building a new home. We would actually prefer a solid insert in a 60x42 size.
I have only found one ADA one online (we do not need ADA but that's what it is) and it is over $3k.
Our other option is to go solid sides and matching floor in a manufactured swanstone or silestone
We have been ruined on tile showers. We have not used our master shower in our existing house for over a year (our house is only 5 years old) due to issues--it was a tile shower with a fiberglass tray.
Instead of swan or sile-
I'd go cultured marble (it's cheaper than those "name brand" materials). You can have a custom pan made to fit the space and full panels for the walls- the only seams are at the corners.
There is a fair selection of colors, it's easy to maintain and clean, and water problems are practically non-existent.
I'm having my 36 x 48 shower made from cultured granite. Fewer seams/grout lines reducing possibility of leakage, easier to clean, cheaper than subway tile. The shower pan will also be made from the cultured granite. I'm not a fan of the look of marble, so the cultured granite was the choice for me.
oh yes we are looking at a cultured marble--it's not actually name brand I don't think--but from a bath place here locally.
It would be approximately $2500 for sides and pan.
We only had about $1800 in the budget though
