I've made my own in the past, but you can buy "slider security pin"

Prime-Line, Sliding Patio Door Pin Lock, with Retaining Ball, Chrome Plated, S 4066 at The Home Depot - Mobile

I use a board on a hinge. The hinge allows me to lift the board out of the way and keep it attached to the door jamb instead of leaving it on the floor.

IMO, most things are useless on sliding glass doors. If someone wants in that bad, they'll just break the glass and walk right in.

That's how I feel about sliding doors and French doors.

Doors can be lifted out rendering all forms of jammers useless.
Check with Guardian Security. They don't advertise like ADP does because they don't have to.

Not if you slide it open all the way and screw two screws into the top rail and guage the distance so the door slides in its travel grooves, but cannot be lifted because the top of the door will contact the screw heads.

There are actual spring loaded locks you can install on sliders so they can't be slid.

I think the cheap dowel that fits in the track will work just fine. Anything that keeps the door from being slid open. Beyond that, as others have said, you're dealing with someone breaking glass.

There is a window film you can buy that keeps windows from shattering. You might want to use some of that, too.

3M Scotchshield window film

Sliders when "adjusted properly" cannot be lifted out/off track.
Adjusted properly means lowering (raising the door) the rollers. This limits the amount of upward travel to the door.

Or you can just buy the pin I referenced in my previous post and it does the same thing- plus prevent sliding.

I have never been able to lift a slider out of the track unless I could lift both edges at the same time. On a properly installed sliding door, the operating panel is on the inside. How do you get hold of the center edge of the door to lift it if it is on the inside of the building?
