Call a plumber. If you call the gas company, they will likely shut off your gas until the issue is resolved, including a city inspection. The gas company doesn't do plumbing work, at least not here.

OMG ... go buy or rent a gas sniffer, it can sniff out parts per million / very small leakages. Or call your gas company as they have them.

You can buy them for less than $200 ... probably a little bit cheaper than dying or blowing up your house.

Call a gas licenced plumber.
