I'm not even sure if this is a problem but my 4 year old Lg top load washer has this possible issue. The little tray that pulls out on top where you put in the detergent is always filled with water after a load runs. I have to take it out which requires a little wiggling and dump it out every single time. It didn't do this up until a few months ago. Could this cause any problems outside of mehaving to empty it and what could cause and fix this?

My less than one year old Samsung does the same thing. But its not very much water I've never really bothered with it and just put new liquid detergent in. I'm not sure if its supposed to happen or not I just figured that some gets left behind after it gets done dispensing the soap and the water rinse cycles.

Are you saying when you pulled out the tray there was no water inside at all?

If you use liquid detergent the siphon might have gotten clogged. I would suggest trying to remove the tray and give it a good cleaning take the pieces that come apart and wash them good and then put it all back together and see if that changes anything.
