So I think that the interior light on my fridge blew a fuse-- the light was flickering and making a buzzing sound whenever the door was open; the buzzing would resolve when the door was closed or when the button was pressed to turn the light off.
When this occurred, the fridge is still working and running cold, but the interior digital indicator of how cold the fridge and freezer were was no longer indicating.
Replaced the bulb-- and the light isn't working, even with a fresh bulb. Once the bulb is removed, then and only then does the digital display inside the fridge (again, the one that indicates the setting for both the fridge and freezer) work.
Is there anything else that I can do to resolve this issue and once again have the interior light work?
And, if not, is there a solution to having ANY light in my fridge. Temporarily, we're using one of those battery operated lights that you might use in a utility closet and it, as you might imagine, SUCKS at illuminating the fridge.
As the fridge is still running normally, other than a lack of light-- and the freezer is both running AND has light, I'd prefer to fix it rather than replace it. Any suggestions?
Both of these articles above say that it's a burnt solder joint on a circuit board. That can be repaired, if you know somebody handy with a soldering iron. Or you can buy a new board, and replace it. Get your exact model number, and look up the part here:
Once you have the exact part number from Sears, look it up on Ebay! Yes, because Ebay appliance part sellers usually sell the same parts at a LOT lower cost. That's where I buy all mine from at 1/2 the price or lower. Just make sure it's the exact correct one you need.
