Just wondering, a lot of new homes have Roman tubs in the master bath that are set in tile (not sure if this is the proper description for it)- where the tub is tiled in.
Are these hard to keep clean? They're tubs obviously not showers but I am wondering if the tile and grout becomes hard to keep new looking as time goes on...howoften do you have to reseal the grout? less often than in a shower I assume...?
I'm assuming you are referring to a tub that is installed into a framed deck that is covered with tile. If that's the case, here's some info:
The grout should be sealed at the initial installation with 2 or 3 coats of a good water-based sealer, NOT with a silicon sealer. Since the tub deck gets no foot traffic, it would only need re-sealing about every 5 years, +/-.
Here's a piece of info that you'll like: If you will wipe the tile down with your towel after you are finished drying yourself after a bath, you should NEVER have to scrub a grout joint again! Wiping the tile dry after your bath will remove excess moisture, soap film, and the minerals from your water supply, all of which, if left to dry and harden, are the source of grout cleaning nightmares. By removing the source, you've eliminated the problem.
Ta - Dahhhhh! No more grout scrubbing.
