I like unusual street names. I lived on Grand Avenue for eight years, and received mail for homes with the same address on Grand Way and Grand Drive.
Many pieces of mail were addressed to "123 Grand" and those always seemed to end up in my mailbox, whether it was for Grand Avenue, Grand Way or Grand Drive.
Was trying to find my BIL's place but we entered it wrong. He lives on East Bay Street Avenue. But there is an East Bay Street. So confusing.
In my city there is an East Bay Street that turns into East Battery at one end and Morrison Drive at the other. I'm constantly giving people directions for the wrong name but the correct street.
I've also seen people use the highway (ie highway 701) for roads that assume street names inside city limits when the people didn't like the name. And people who have PO boxes in a nicer zip code. People get sensitive about perception.
I would hesitate if the name implied something about the neighborhood that I did not want applied to me. For example, all names of gun manufacturers in one development. Or names related to religious extremism. Or names of certain politicians. Ruger Rd, Remington Way, Badass Lane. Biblethump Ave. Kluklux Court. Not that I have seen any of these, thank goodness.
Two oddest street names in my area: "That" Rd. and "Baby Creek" Rd. When we were planning our move here and looking online for property Baby Creek Rd. conjured up some odd images.
We had a Proposed Avenue in a nearby town. When they got new street signs, it was changed to Certain Avenue.
