I'm interested in renting out my condo in the near future so I wanted to get started in making the necessary upgrades. One appliance that I really need to upgrade is my refrigerator. I'm currently doing research but don't really have a clue about trusted brands etc. Anyone buy one recently that had good/bad experiences?

We had a Frigidaire for 18 years, had to replace the ice maker, otherwise no problems. We replaced it with a Samsung two years ago and love it. Saw a significant drop in the electric bill, as it uses a lot less, though it has dual evaporator.
Since you are going to be renting the place out, I'd suggest buying what's on sale. You can't go by name brands anymore. For example, Amana is made by Whirlpool in China. The Frigidaire is an Electrolux company and made in Juarez, Mexico. Ge sold it's appliance division last year to a Chinese holding company and that's where they are made. If you are trying to buy USA made, it's out there but I doubt you want to pay several grand for a fridge that's going into a rental. While shopping, look at the price of the extended warranties. The GE we bought last year before it became Chinese would have cost us over $350.00 for 5 year warranty at Sears. It cost us a little over $120 at Lowes for 5 years. My supplier for the houses I build could not touch the Lowes numbers. It was on sale and had a $400 discount versus their normal price. I would suggest unless its high end rental property to keep it simple. No ice maker, no water filter to replace, just a nice fridge with a decent size freezer. My preference would be a bottom freezer.
following this thread with interest as we are in the market for 2 fridges (one for a rental) and one for us but nothing fancy, although I tend to cook a lot and so need storage....
just a request, if folks could include prices for the actual fridges themselves that would be useful for everyone...(thx in advance)
i would avoid LG and samsung at all costs. if they break good luck trying to get them fixed and good luck trying to find an authorized repair person depending on where you live.. and good luck trying to get parts for them to. and there customer service is horrible...
Kenmore and Whirlpool are very good fridges. They come in basic models as well.
