i have an old kitchen aid dish washer made by hobart the model is KDS-18. the motor seized up on it and i am wondering if it's possible to buy a new motor or atleast a refurb one. i am hoping to hang on to it for a while longer. i really don't want to put any of this tree hugger bull**** in my home. and or i guess that my only other option would be to buy a hobart and have the kitchen rewired and plumbed for it since a hobart is the only machine out today that cleans worth a damm also it seems to me that the stuff made today is ready for the landfill as soon as it leaves the factory.
There are several website that specialize in appliance parts. Put in brand, model, and number of your dishwasher and they will find the repair part for you. Dishwashers are pretty basic to work on.

i have been doing that and they all say the motor is no longer available but i will keep trying i might also look into seeing if it can be fixed to but i imagine that would get costly

There is one other option- since obsolescence is not a part of "your life"-
i have been doing that and they all say the motor is no longer available
Which means it's no longer manufactured.
It might also mean that there's no alternate parts that will fit/work already cross indexed.
That may be so... but is not very likey with a common Hobart era KA product.
Find a shop with the old paper manuals...

but i will keep trying...
Get the stock number for the motor itself (if available)
and for the pump/motor assembly (more likely)
Then look for those part numbers.
Some shop somewhere has one on a dusty shelf.
or one of the NOS jobbers will have it.
Take a look in your area Yellow Pages for an armature works. I use San Antonio Armature who has been around since the 1920s. If they can't find the exact motor, find a replacement motor, they'll rebuild what you have. They've saved me tons of money over the years by rebuilding an electric motor rather than buying new. I've found the rebuilt by them to be far better and last longer. You probably have a similar business in your area too.
that's what i'm hoping it is. is just a cranky bearing. it's a shame that whirlpool wrecked that brand after they bought em out. it's really a shame they just didn't get it that they had an excellent product when they purchased kitchen aid from hobart. they have completely wrecked the rolls royce of dishwashers. the detail and construction of these machines is superb!!! even today there's people looking for these huricanes in a box
someone on anther forum told me to try calling hobart if i can't find the motor to so i will be trying that as well
